| Kyuu said: Trails in the Sky reviewing so well! I've been eyeing the Trails series for a while. What kept me from trying them was the sheer number of story-connected games, and the abysmal Falcom production values (as far as full 3D is concerned). I ultimately tried its sister series, Ys. Loved Origin but was disappointed with Ys 8 which confirmed my concerns. The Trails in the Sky remake is godsent as it seems to solve my two main issues. It's a great entry point and it looks and feels good! I hope it will invite enough new players to help usher in a new era for Falcom where their games aren't compromised by such low production values. |
Ys Oath in Felghana (Ys 3) and Ark of Napishtim (Ys 6) are great games and you should try them for sure because they are closest to Ys Origin in terms of gameplay. Ys 1 and 2 you can skip if you want cause of the bumper fighting system is kinda bullshit lol.
I've played...
Ys Origin
Ys I Chronicles+
Ys II Chronicles+
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Ys: Ark of Napishtim
Planning to play Ys Memories of Celceta or Ys 7 next personally.
As for Trails series, or should I say specifically The Legend of Heroes (TLOH) series - I've played so far...
The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion
The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch
The Legend of Heroes III: Song of the Ocean
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky First Chapter (OG version)
^ Tear of Vermillion is actually TLOH 4, Prophecy of Moonlight Witch is TLOH 3 and Song of the Ocean is TLOH 5.
Trails in the Sky FC is TLOH6.
I havent played TLOH 1 or 2 because there's no version of it outside of Japan as far as I know.
I've got all the other games in the series that I still need to play and planning to play them in order of release.
I bought GOG version of Trails in the Sky FC because I plan to play it again since I played Steam version 5 years ago. Gonna play the games kind of back to back lol.
I'll get the remakes of Sky sometime down the line in the future.
