If COD gamers don't prefer a version of COD, it absolutely does matter. Because those are the best players, the tournament players, the people who stream all the time and influence what everyone else thinks and plays. And if you're a platform holder, and those guys say your platform's versions is trash and should be avoided, and it becomes common belief, it will be avoided and it will tarnish the image of your platform forever. This has been a problem with Nintendo since the SNES, to a small degree, and the N64 to a large degree. The NES was the last time a Nintendo console was considered the defacto home for third party games. Every console since then has been mocked, in some degree or another, for being a Nintendo machine only. So unless you don't care about that sort of thing, why wouldn't it matter to you? Do you not want them to finally get back to where they were? Do you not want to be able to buy a Nintendo console and finally get the best versions of games? Why would anyone not want that? It would be amazing. And it would also save certain people a lot of money because they wouldn't be forced into a PS5 or WhateverthehelltheyarecallinganXboxthesedays in order to have the best. I just don't see the downside. |
What tournament players or PS/Xbox players think of a Wii or Switch 2 COD port is utterly irrelevant, they're not the target audience.
The notion that a port shouldn't exist cos it's not the best looking version of the game is silly. If it makes money and the target audience enjoy it, then it's worthwhile.
