It's like I'm watching time turn back to the 80s while reading this thread. My mother (who was an active feminist, Rooie Vrouwen in de PVDA) would roll over in her grave reading some of these comments.

As for my own anecdote, we both do what we're most efficient at. Me cleaning and grocery shopping, my wife cooking, both dealing with school and doctor stuff.

And yes of course there's biology at play in motherhood. But we as a species have to evolve away from primal genetic programming or civilization will not survive (again). The signs of Western Civilizations regressing are everywhere.

As for Disney movies. I lost interest in them for all the live remakes, nothing to do with female leads. Disney simply ran out of 'original' content and keeps rehashing the same stuff over and over. Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, Lion King, Aladdin, Pocahontas and Mulan got me into Disney as a 'young man'. Where did that creativity go.

They're making remakes because their original content isn't good enough anymore. What you said is in the heart of the problem: they think "female lead" in a sloppy story gets people to watch their films for being progressive. The Force Awakens and Rogue One were released a year apart, FA gets all the hate and RO all the praise. Both were Star Wars films and both had a female lead. The story of Rogue One was made in early 2000's when they still were making the prequel trilogy, so it was still made the young men in mind instead of "modern audiences".

Western society is regressing, in part that's because of the 3rd world immigration where the culture is more conservative than it is in the west, but also the youth today is more conservative than their parents. It's starting to look like that generation X is going to be the most progressive generation.
