And capacity is just one aspect.

I am curious about those MS rumors on next gen hardware.  Hard to say what MS will do and the impact it will have.

It was the aspect I was responding to; so long as major games continue to support the Series S with 8GB for games, Switch 2 having 9GB (maybe more in time) shouldn't pose a problem, and given how long crossgen lasted last time, by the time Series S support ends, it won't matter as the next Nintendo system will be around the corner and major games will be out of reach of Switch 2 anyway.

Switch's 12GB pool of RAM is perhaps one of the least limiting aspects of the hardware, as I'd expect stuff like the CPU to become a hurdle long before RAM capacity.

Could be right.  I'm on the fence with 12 gb of ram and how it ages over the next few years.  I found the 5070 incredibly disappointing.  I wouldn't buy a GPU less than 16 gb.
