Just to comment on this. This is the micro-generation I am a part of. I believe the correct term is "Xennial" or "Gen X/Millennial cuspers" (basically, the late Gen Xers and early millennials). To be fair, I never really thought about generations until I was already an adult. I was aware of the Baby Boomer generation gap, and the film The Graduate, and that's about it.

Yeah it's the 1970-1990 ish generation, right between gen X and Millenials. And indeed this generation labeling thing is pretty new. Those who grew up in the 80s/90s is a better way to specify it. The generation with Boomer parents.
