Between COVID's impact on supply chains & inflation and the orange moron's trade wars this year, this has been a chaotic generation. It's the only one where there's been actual price increases. And when the increases happen, it hurts sales. We saw it in Japan when the PS5 increased in price last September. We saw it earlier this year in the U.S. when the XBS increased in price. It won't surprise me if the recent increases to the Switch 1's price hurts it sales. But I guess a console maker would rather deal with a drop in sales volume than a loss in per-unit profitability.

If this price increase sticks for the rest of the generation, there's no way the PS5 fully catches up to the PS4, not even in the U.S. I do have a feeling this generation might be extended out to 2028 or 2029 to see which way the winds are blowing politically before they make any decisions that could be impacted by future trade war BS.
