Just to be clear, the people who did not support Harris are also stupid, but for completely different reasons: Apathy. They are not the same group we were discussing earlier. Harris lost 6 million votes compared to Biden, not 12, and those votes did not necessarily go to Trump either. Trump gained 3 million new votes compared to Biden's election, but a large portion of those were first-time voters aged 18–24
Biden won by 65–35, while Harris won by 54–43 a very significant difference. There was a swing to the right, but it was not that substantial. If a person believes social programs are just charity handouts, there's a high chance they have been consistently conservative, right-wing, and voting Republican for quite some time. The main issue was mostly Democrats and independents not voting for Harris, rather than a large swing toward Trump
Edit: There is a group that turned to the right and for Trump though: Latin community, specially latin men. Quite amusing if you ask me, considering how Trump is treating immigrants
