AMD and NVidia still kinda make these GPUs, but they put them into professional cards. Like the Radeon Pro series for instance where we had the W7400 in the news just a couple days ago.

It's hard to guess why people do or buy certain things. 

I guess that those two cards were so popular that it's easier to find reviews or other info about them, prompting users to go that route, which in turn makes sales numbers higher, prompting more users to notice them, and so on.

Maybe, I have no idea. Unless people thought that it was related to Turing due to starting with a 2...

Also, while I didn't really think about it at first, I'm surprised that those GPUs can even still be found in such numbers over a decade after their release. I guess most of them are used sales now, but still...
