Well, I've done pretty much everything except get 999 bananas - My current count is at 976, which means it's Banandium Chip grinding time.
I've collected all the ones the game wants to get from missions (777 in total) plus got all the fossils and bought/upgraded all the outfits and fur colors.
And I'll repeat what I said when after I beat the Final Boss - This game is fantastic!
A solid 9.5/10 for me.
Some criticisms I have that keep it from being a perfect score:
- Some of the upgraded skills, especially for the transformations, feel unnecessary and don't really add much.
- The Elder Rehearsal trials SUUUUUUCK! ESPECIALLY the Zebra one - FUCK that one!
And lastly...
King K. Rool coming back and taking over as the Final Boss was... disappointing and came out of nowhere. I was spoiled by it beforehand, so I still knew it was coming. But after spending the ENTIRE game building up Void Kong as THE main villain - And they did a pretty damn good job of it, I must say. I really enjoy Void as a villain, for K. Rool to come in out of nowhere to just hijack it just rubbed me the wrong way and felt really unnecessary.
I get that he's the MAIN villain of Donkey Kong and fans wanted to see him come back, but this was NOT the way to do it. It felt like Twilight Princess all over again when Zant was built up throughout the whole game as the main villain only for Ganondorf to come in and steal it.
Didn't like that at all. It's great that King K. Rool is back, but his return could have been executed A LOT better than it was.
But other than those, this game absolutely knocks it out of the park. An absolute blast to play and an amazing journey from beginning to end. This game makes me not only want to see more of Donkey Kong, but more of Donkey Kong and Pauline together! I LOVE the dynamic between these two!
