Personally, I feel the need to release the "Epstein files" is a bit more complicated than some people are making it out to be. If the files actually incriminate people and include a "client list", first and foremost, these people should be charged. Typically, evidence involved in a criminal investigation isn't and shouldn't be released before trial. Further, if there is evidence which doesn't look great but doesn't directly implicate anyone in a crime (like the flight logs), there are significant ethical concerns when it comes to tying potentially innocent people to incredibly severe investigations. And if there is nothing of value in the files, I'd probably lean towards releasing them but in effect it wouldn't really matter, because the conspiracy heads would just say they're holding the valuable stuff back. But this all gets complicated by people in Trump's orbit stirring the pot of conspiracy theories. He and his ilk have made so much noise, throwing accusations and making denials, but now they are saying there is nothing there? That about-face demands proof. It amplifies the valid public interest in those files. If Trump World had said nothing about it and let it fall into the past, this pressure wouldn't exist, but they used the conspiracies every step of the way until they got too close and then tried to cast them aside. Now, the only way out it to release the files. |
It's a fair stance to take that the files probably don't have anything important in them, though Trump's actions lead me to believe they do, before this I was more 50/50 but he has been acting mad guilty and it now makes me think there's a lot of very incriminating files out there on a lot of people. Like you said though, this has entirely been an issue of Trump and his teams creation so now the only solution is to release the files.
Though it's a fair point that releasing the files could compromise criminal investigations and evidence isn't released before a trial, but they haven't used that argument once, Lol. So I'm not sure how true that is for these particular files, it makes me think that there's probably a few people in there if incriminated that they will not do anything about at all and will instead shove it under the rug, like Prince Andrew, do I think the FBI/DOJ will ever bring criminal charges against him even if they have hard evidence that he was a pedo too? Fuck no.
If there's people like Prince Andrew in there, then there's probably going to be a few people who will never have charges brought against them even if guilty. So I'm fine with releasing the files in their full capacity but with victim names redacted, let people disseminate the information in its fullest, being friends with Epstein isn't evidence of guilt, but other things might be. Lets face it, people are already making their assumptions anyway with the partial information we already have.
