Visa and MasterCard need to be broken up. Period. That two corporations control something so essential to the economy and are willing to use the leverage that comes with the position of being part of an oligopoly is beyond ridiculous. At the absolute bare minimum, there needs to be real, meaningful, enforceable regulations telling them that they must accept payments being done at any legitimate business (i.e., some entity with a business license, so anyone from a multinational corporation to some local mom & pop establishment), regardless of the company's personal opinions.
