We know one of the biggest reasons why so many independents or center left voted for Trump instead, is because they now saw what the left as a whole had become and didn't want to be part of it. Trumps words and actions caused that to become clear, because of things like the 'foundational principal' of political correctness getting tossed out the window to try and destroy Trump. Now whether they actually like Trump and think he's totally right, or whether or not they're teaching the left a lesson and trying to force them to move back to the center, that's harder to say, but it points to the same cause. When you hear the phrase, "Trumps not the cause, he's the symptom", this is what they are referring to in general. Nobody likes a cough, but it won't go away unless the cause get's taken care of.

This is also why so many Canadians who voted Con are baffled about this election outcome. Trudeau wasn't the cause, he was a symptom. Carney is just another symptom. Until the cause get's taken care of, Canada is going to have to put up with it.

I'm going to suggest you be less blunt, because that's uncalled for. You're free to your opinion, but try to be more civil about it. "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar". You should also broaden your horizons. "A healthy diet goes a long way".

I'm not sure who you think you're fooling, but I wasn't born yesterday. If you want me to be less blunt on why I called you on your bullshit, then I'll take a sharper approach this time and remind you why I lost my patience for civility.

If you see me as a foreign resident, and you as an authentic Canadian, then how the fuck do you conclude that I'm closer to this than you are?

Now I'll explain how I knew the bullshittery of your anecdotes. First, you talked to some American friends, no one else here can verify anything about them, but coincidentally, they have the same faulty logic and common-sense-failing arguments you have, and the same absurd conclusion. And it's not just the anecdotes themselves, but also how they fly in the face of what we have verified. I'll add that the intricacy in which you explained the positions of these "American friends" and motivation was handled with all the grace of a novice writer who doesn't understand POVs yet. You don't read minds.
