Things have changed dramatically since the PS360 days. Bayonetta's sales are 100% affected by being locked to Switch. Arguing against this is bizarre. Monster Hunter was niche in the west before World, and look how much it grow when it was no longer restricted by the 3DS. Devil May Cry and NieR massively grew as well.
Bayonetta can significantly grow as a multiplatform title if the quality remains high. Like Ninja Gaiden almost certainly will if the new game arrives in solid form.
It's just common sense that making your game available on a larger install base will help it sell more and potentially explode in popularity.
