DMC5 and NieR Automata crushed the numbers you would normally expect from their genre, and it looks like this game may have a similar trajectory. 1 million in 3 days for a $60 late port is a very strong result that hints a 7.5 million floor (3 million copies sold on PS5 and 3.5 million on PC sounds conservative, doesn't it?) Bayonetta couldn't grow because it's locked to Nintendo's platforms. A well-received multiplatform Bayonetta targeting PS5 specs and ported to other systems including Switch 2 should easily sell 4 million minimum. What's your lifetime prediction for Stellar Blade (PS5 + PC)? |
9 million for Stellar Blade is definitely possible, I wouldn't even be surprised if it sells that much, it's just a long way off for now, is all I meant.
And Bayonetta underperformed on the combined 170 million plus userbase of PS3 + 360 despite being hailed as a classic, so it's not Nintendo limiting it, the IP is simply niche.
