The fact is for 99.9 percent of people Switch 2 is going to represent a massive upgrade and a wonderful piece of hardware bringing them a level of visuals and gameplay experiences that they couldn’t have dreamed of or considered home console only experiences prior to this.
Things like the Steam Deck which are outclassed by this Switch 2 are still extremely niche devices and things like a 900 dollar ROG Ally X even moreso.
This is going to be a great device for millions of people bringing them visual performance in a hybrid that they are not used to.
Enthusiast gamers always miss the forest from the trees. This is the best Nintendo hardware on day 1 since the GameCube and it should be able to with some effort on a dev’s part to run an awful lot of XBox Series S games.
I also do think we will see a Switch 2 Pro this time around. You can see even in Nintendo’s marketing they are emphasizing things like 4K resolution and even 120 fps. The Wii and DS eras is most definitely over this is more akin to what the Super NES was in the early 90s.
