It will be a huge success.
The console itself is simply great right out of the box. It has the same fast OS as Switch 1 and comes with an improved eShop. The new Joy-Cons attach more sturdily due to the magnets and are also easier to detach while having no risk to come off accidentally. Transfering the data from Switch 1 to Switch 2 was painless and afterwards Switch 2 looks just like your Switch 1 in the main menu. It's such a smooth transition, taking greatness and making it even a bit better. If you liked Switch 1, you'll love Switch 2.
Mario Kart World also delivers. The physics have been reworked, so it plays and feels different to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe instantly while being just as great. Loading times are shorter, so that's another plus.
This piece of hardware in combination with a true killer app on launch day and a lot of complementary software to choose from may be the best executed launch of a console ever. The only downside is the shortage of physical games, but the shitty behavior of most third parties can be quite easily ignored when Nintendo has lined up a bunch of great games for the rest of this year. Whether or not Switch 2 will sell better than Switch 1 is up in the air, but Nintendo is definitely putting their best foot forward here. Haters are gonna suffer.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
