I’m not necessarily saying such a device would have been a smash hit but the strategy and marketing behind Wii U was absolutely not a continuation of Wii.

WiiU was an iterative update to the Wii.

Both used PowerPC, both used Radeon (ArtX vs AMD however), both had motion controls, both ran Wii games with Wii accessories like the sensor bar etc'.

They even shared similar names.

I agree with you about the specs of the console but that’s not what I’m referring to. Wii was designed and marketed around motion controls and playing together (Wii as in WE) with unique experiences not available on other devices while Wii U was centered around a tablet controller catered to individuals (U as is YOU) and had a pretty big focus on getting PS3/360 ports (when those consoles were about to be replaced themselves).

The whole concept of Wii U went against what made Wii successful.
