I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a definition of "success" whose parameters the Switch 2 won't fit into. That said, I don't expect Switch numbers, the industry is seeing much less favorable conditions today than it did back when that released, and there won't be a Covid-19 resurgence in console and electronics sales to offer that extra boost.
Its launch is looking to be huge, by all accounts and in all available regions, next year will be much more telling though. I imagine Nintendo have more waiting in the pipeline to avoid a drought; it's not too long ago that they made that mistake (with the Wii U).
