No they do not regret their vote because the pain has not set in yet. They still defend him with the same zest as they have before but they are becoming more mute as of late. It use to be in comment sections you have a lot of them still holding the line but lately they have disappeared and only come out when there is a positive thing someone spinnned up on Trump.  I have a few friends who I know who voted for Trump and when I tell him what some of the things he has said and done, they actually look at me like I am lying. I tell them its his own words and they would not believe me. The key part here is that the news, sites and social network they get their information from just do not report that stuff and keeps them in the dark and thus they also will not trust anything that is not from those sites so they stay in a safe space. |
Even pain is unlikely to deter them unless they're foraging for food in the gutters. A lot of Trumpers seem willing to go through an awful lot of pain, so long as they get to see people they hate, hurt or killed.
I've maintained for years that the economy was never the issue - the cruelty and malice towards other people was. Southern states were content to be nailed firmly to the bottom of the economic ladder as long as they were allowed to practice Jim Crow.
