Trump is rapidly burning through the full faith and credit of the United States, which was the basis of its economic strength, all to appease the whims of people who mentally never left the 1950s and don't understand that the world itself is a very different place.
Fun fact: the world of Judge Dredd in the 2000AD comics happened because a rogue President of the United States won election on the grievances of voters who believed that the world was living off of their backs, not to mention the consolidation of political power and force projection into fewer and fewer hands.
