True it's gotten off track.

The transition from Switch to Switch 2 tbh is more in line of NES to SNES, it's more of building on familiar territory compared to the parkour of the past 30 years but not killing off the Switch instantly to let it run it's course like they did the 3DS is one of the better decisions in how they've gone about compared to back with NES to SNES.
