Agreed. Game Card sizes will almost certainly increase as the generation progresses. This has occurred in every generation since Game Cards replaced cartridges and disks.

But I think it's noteworthy to consider... 64GB? That is a huge number. That is larger than the entire Witcher 3 Complete (all expansions) + Xenoblade Chronicles X DE, and Breath of the Wild with all DLC combined.

I actually doubt it. 128GB might be eventually made available a few years down the line but I bet it will be extremely limited.

Even Nintendo I think will eventually start shipping Game Key cards for games that really need more than 64GB (though for Nintendo's use case I doubt it will be many games at all).

3rd parties are just going to ship Game Key cards for the most part.

Physical game sales on the Switch 2 are going to become a small minority of the total sales, just is what it is. PS6 probably won't even have physical games period. It's over for physical games.

More than likely even if there is like a Nintendo game that requires more than 64GB (which will be like 1-2 games this gen maybe max), you'll just be asked to download the extra data rather than there being a need for a larger cartridge.

You're probably correct there.

But, I should note that I'm actually pro-digital. But, the Virtual Game Cards update on Switch is proof that better regulation is necessary against these sorts of anti-consumer updates - which really fucked me over.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
