Probably would have been hard to find any Pope who wasn't shit on handling the rampant sexual abuse in the Catholic Church Tbh and who doesn't have backward ass views on LGBTQ+ and women but he definitely doesn't seem to be a fan of Trump/JD Vance and that's probably the best we could have hoped for from the Catholic Church, Lol. Again, when I say he seems moderate, I say from a Catholic standpoint considering a ton of them have shitty views on women/LGBTQ (and I hope he has changed those views).

Francis at least tried to be understanding, which is a huge lurch forward for the Church, especially after Benedict. He no doubt hoped that Cardinal Prevost, now Leo XIV, would carry on his work in this regard as well. The nightmare scenario would have been Dolan or Raymond Burke being elected. Dolan would have handed the keys to the Vatican over to Trump.

Yeah, folk are saying he is aligned with Francis (and was of course appointed by Francis) so hopefully he just continues Francis work and improves on a few of his narrow minded views. I don't think American Conservatives will be celebrating once they see his tweets, Lmao.

Also he did his entire speech in Spanish apparently? So...Yeah, Lol.
