It is way too early to be doing this, but what the heck?! Console gens seem to be getting longer and longer as tech advances slow down and as companies have begun pivoting to mid-gen refreshes instead of trying to get brand new consoles out every 5 years.
Switch went from 03-03-17 all the way to 06-05-25 (or 05-06-25, mind you) without a successor, so another 8 year gap before the next system isn’t that far out of the realm of possibility.
So what better date to release the third in this series of systems than on the 16th anniversary of the original Switch’s launch…and look at all of those beautiful 3s. Yeah, it’s far fetched and crazy talk, but it is a decent placeholder date as we start winding down the 2020s.
What do you think? Is 8 years too long to wait for the successor to the Switch 2? Are you hoping that we never get a Switch 3 and that instead Nintendo upends the tea cart once again and completely transforms the gaming experience? And just how much do you think the next Mario Kart will cost in 2033?
