Another thing is I think a lot of the FF7 audience is not on the PS4/PS5 in Japan anymore. Those 3 million people are still out there, they just don't buy stationary consoles in Japan any longer. People want a portable device, and the Switch is that, these games all would have sold a lot better if the Switch 2 was available when FF7 Remake + Rebirth actually launched, anyone seriously doubt that? Especially in Japan.

I think a lot of the 3rd parties getting in on the Switch 2 early are gonna be nicely rewarded too. Cyberpunk 2077, FF7 Remake, Street Fighter 6, Elden Ring are all going to do well on the system over a long haul and quietly steady sell as the userbase of Switch 2 grows rapidly. The Nintendo 1st/2nd party lineup for 2025 is pretty good but it's spread out and not so loaded as much that there's plenty of room for other publishers to make bank. No Zelda game early is obviously one huge difference from Switch 1, BOTW totally sucked the oxygen out of the room from a lot of games.
