The timing of the EU fines, that hit Meta and Apple yesterday, is curious, I might be reading too much into it but it really felt like the EU going "eh? we've got nothing to worry about after all". Trump clearly overplayed his hand. 

Indeed, Trump believed he had cards to play when he had actually nothing in his hands. By now the whole world is seeing through his bluffs and empty threats.
