Notice how many games are using dynamic resolution scaling and/or TAA these days?
Future PS, Switch and Xbox could run back-compatibility on these current scalable titles.

Maybe not so important for annual games, but next-gen consoles
could run current games much better as PSPro and XboxX have shown.

What's your take?

I expect each new mainline console from the big 3 to be backwards compatible this time around. Before they had to move away from unique or dated architectures to more standardized ones, now there will be no excuse. Frame rates should be more stable, dynamic resolutions should top out, and hopefully a good number of games get patches to take advantage of the new hardware.

PS5, Xbox Series and now the Switch 2 has finally confirmed this. Stable frame rates and top dynamic resolutions inbound for all back compact games.
