Even former PlayStation executive Shawn Layden fell prey to stupidity.

“Recently it went to 70, and people went crazy, I think Nintendo’s pulling the bandaid right off and saying ‘looks like it’s $80 for a frontline game on the new platform.”

Too many people are eager to believe that Mario Kart World's price is the new rule instead of the exception that it is.

Also, speaking of US prices, there's no additional $10 on physical games in comparison to their digital counterparts. Which lines up with something that has already been said in this thread, that US retailers rarely undercut the MSRP. That's why there's no need for Nintendo to set the MSRP for physical higher, because their eShop prices are competitive with retailers. The story is different in Europe where it has been common for physical to be cheaper than digital; the additional €10 on the physical MSRP exist due to Nintendo's expectation that retailers will undercut the MSRP by around €10 which then makes physical and digital cost the same.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
