New Gears Web Site Coming

A handful of COG tags hint at things to come.

July 8, 2008 - It looks like Microsoft and Epic games are prepping a new Web site for Gears of War 2. Surf on over to this URL, and you'll see a lone image of a human soldier holding a group of COG tags in his gloved hand.

Surrounded by blackness, the COG fighter is holding what appears to be a Lancer machine gun in one hand and the tags in the other. There are three gear-shaped COG tags and three traditional-looking dog tags, one of which shows this series of numbers: 033 111 117 126 071. Helicopters hover in the background.

We're told the franchise's Web site will remain www.GearsOfWar.com, but beyond that, Microsoft folks said they can't confirm what changes may be in store for the site. As of this writing, clicking on the image of the COG soldier (is it Marcus Fenix?) leads back to the current Gears of War site.
