I really didn't expect this to be frank, I thought we'd be forced to buy the new one just to get an extra $114 (AUD, dunno what it costs elsewhere) out of us, would've been an easy way for Nintendo to increase their profit margin.
It's not exactly standard; I think you can use Xbox One controllers on Xbox Series, but I don't think you can play PS5 games with a dualshock 4 for instance.
