| TheMisterManGuy said: I do think things will work out in the end regarding Switch 2. But you have to admit the way they've handled the pricing info and decisions has been very sloppy. It's not just fans bitching about "$80 Mario Kart lol" it's the fact that Nintendo failed to talk about Switch 1 games getting free performance and features updates on Switch 2, instead focusing on "Switch 2" edition games, which made people think that they are going to charge for all your updates. Or the fact that they completely neglected to mention that some Switch 2 edition upgrades will be free for NSO + Expansion Pack subscribers. It's their whole handling of the narrative ATM that should rightfully be called out. |
I am quite sure they mentioned free performance upgrades in passing after they highlighted Switch 2 Edition games. Likewise, they showed the Zelda game upgrade packs as perks for NSO members.
The only thing that is miscommunicated on Nintendo's end are the physical versions of Switch 2 Edition games where the wording is up to interpretation.
What has happened is that the vast majority of gamers on the internet could once again not wait to dissect all information and had to rush to the keyboards or make videos. This widespread recklessness and stupidity is something that no company can solve. Switch 2 is also not launching next week, it's launching in two months. Nintendo is right to let the dust settle a bit, because if they responded immediately, they would convey that they are panicking. Which is what Microsoft did after the Xbox One reveal and made everything just worse. The additional difference is that Microsoft had reasons to panic whereas Nintendo has not.
Let the simpletons dig their own holes.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
