The difference is that the US economy isn't fueled by exports, but by consumption - consumption that goes down if the value of the currency goes down, as people can't buy the same amount of stuff per dollar anymore.
China artificially keeps down salaries and consumption to go all in on exports, the US can't do that the way the entire country is built and running.
