Yeah, I agree, Nintendo wasted a lot of focus on their wheelchair Snipperclips. But the games they clearly highlighted, by announcing it before and separating it from other trailers were: Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Duskbloods and Hyrule Warriors. These are the games Nintendo themself sees as important.

And you focus on success. We all know Pokemon will sell well. This is not the point. In the launch year of the Switch Mario Odyssey was their big focused holiday release. In the same year Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was also released. It was a remaster of the WiiU game with extra content, so kinda comparable to the Upgrade Packs this gen. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold on Switch 67M, Mario Odyssey 29M. So you would declare that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was their big holiday pillar based on sales?

I think Nintendo always put something exciting there, even if it does not sell *that* much. Especially in a launch year. So I think there will be something else. Although Hyrule Warriors could count, Age of Calamity was it one year, although not the launch year. So yeah, Hyrule Warriors is at least more believable, this was a trailer they highlighted by announcing it beforehand.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe released in April. But even ignoring release dates to play along with your Trump logic, and focusing solely on sales, I'd declare SMO to be the big holiday game. It shipped 9.07m units in comparison to MK8D's 2.91m.

Beyond that, your post sounds like "I don't like Pokémon."

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
