To be frank, the key cards are litteraly the only possible way they found to compromise with some third party games insane data load. We've only just got the 64GB cartridges to be "viable". But so many of them are past the 100GB mark.

What were expecting to happen there ?

Still will not forgive publishers like Crapcom and Square Enix being cheap ass mofos for games that could easily fit on these.

At this point in time there's probably not a single game that wouldn't fit in its entirety on a 64 GB card. Compression rates that halve a game's file size don't require wizardry and on Switch 1 we've already seen third parties accomplishing compression rates that have a file size go down to a quarter of its PS counterpart.

And while a 64 GB card is more expensive to use, the general price increase of $10 per game at retail more than covers the added production cost of a 64 GB card in comparison to 16 GB and 32 GB cards.

On Switch 1 it took a few years until CD Projekt Red destroyed all false assumptions about game cards with their port of The Witcher 3. But on Switch 2 they'll do it on launch day.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
