I can't imagine the USA being able to pull off much of a fight when every big nation/trading block retaliates. That's because Trump is hitting those countries the hardest that the USA has the biggest trade deficit with, which means that US citizens are the most reliant on the goods coming from those same countries because they don't produce them themselves in big enough/affordable enough quantities. You aren't in a good position to put pressure on someone else when it's going to hurt your own country so much.
When you pull off a crazy stunt like this, it's actually you who should be grateful if things return to how they were before, because the other nations are in the position to demand concessions from you.
