That first line is nonsense: Sony *does* offer “PS5 Edition” upgrades which are distributed in a nearly identical manner to what Nintendo is doing. If you already own the OG NSW version, it’s a cheap upgrade fee of (I’d imagine like) $10.
That last line is misguided: The significance of the PS3 pricing disaster is that it annihilated hardware sales. There have been maaaany instances as of late where gaming businesses decide to shoot up prices and get away with it: $700 PS5 Pro, $70 games, Early Access scams, Content hidden behind paywalls, etc. Unfortunately, this situation will be no different b/c ultimately there is no publisher quite like Nintendo when it comes to quality. They make the best games, and so, they get to call the shots. They will succeed in ripping off consumers, and that’s just what it is. My only hope is that the rest of the industry doesn’t follow in their footsteps…though I already see GTAVI costing over $100 at this point.
