Who told you that bullshit?

In 2004, there were already MP3 players with 1 GB available for €140 (taxes included).

https://www.computerbase.de/news/audio-video-foto/1-gb-mp3-player-fuer-139-euro.11733/

The PSP Value Pack costed almost twice as much and only came with a (proprietary) 32 MB Memory Stick Duo (0.03 GB, only enough space for a dozen MP3 songs).

The Memory Stick Duo cards with higher capacity were quite expensive.

No one told me "that bullshit", I lived it. Your first world situation didn't and won't cover the rest of the world lol. In my country it was cheaper to get a psp than a mp3. That's why I can say it.

Well, the majority of PSP sales were in first world countries, not in the rest of the world:

And I doubt that in many of the "rest of the world countries" a PSP + expensive Memory Stick Duo were cheaper than a MP3 player.
