We've got two first party games confirmed for 2026 in the latest Nintendo Direct. While the overall number of notable releases will decrease from here on out, there's still a healthy pipeline of new software at this late stage of Switch's life.
Today is the final day of the current fiscal year which is bound to push Switch's LTD sales to above 152m, meaning only 8m left to go to beat the PS2. We're also only two days away from the Switch 2 Direct which should confirm launch date, launch lineup and pricing for Switch's successor.
The pieces are falling in place. Switch will continue to see notable software support for a while, the console will be notably cheaper than Switch 2 and the remaining gap to reach and surpass the PS2 is more than manageable. Shipments of ~6m are feasible for the fiscal year ending March 2026; we'll get Nintendo's forecast on May 8th.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
