Of course something like this would be great, but it sounds like a lot of work for years of development. And betrayal would naturally grow in scope to at least match COO. There's no way the remake is 1:1 for that. Still I'm excited to see what this spin off is going to be |
From what we saw in Valhalla, it's pretty clear they are working on high quality assets for the Greek saga enemies and environments.
Based on that, choosing to use them to a spin off, 12 years after the last game or 15 years after 3 and not to rework the actual games to bring them back to consumers memory is just... a really bad decision, specially if the old games get a simple port and still look like PS2 and PSP games later on.
FF7 is getting 3 Remakes, and God of War games nowdays sell at least 2 to 3 times more than Final Fantasy does.
Making that kind of high quality remakes instead is a way better use of the Greek era, and would be great to keep up the massive respect the franchise have.
I don't see why that could not be the case here, instead of wasting those resources into a spin off from that era instead.
I can only see 2 possible outcomes of such a spin off:
1. One being an Atreus game about him going there, what would be a horrible decision, IMO;
2. And the other being something to connect the past saga to a new coming saga, as we didn't get to see Athena during Ragnarok, and I'm sure she will be extremely important to link the primordial times with the fissure Odin was researching to move the series foward. Which IMO needs to be a major plot point into a future mainline game, not an spin off.
So it really puzzles me why bring back the Greek story with a spin off nowdays, meanwhile making such remakes would be something amazing.
I'm looking foward to news but I really hope it's not a spin off and would be very displeased if they make it an Atreus game.
