This week's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart opted for a simple explanation for the actions of a simple-minded man. It may not be necessary for Russia to pay off Trump or blackmail him to get this result, because MAGA people see themselves in a culture war of woke vs. unwoke. In that context partnering with Russia and turning away from Europe makes perfect sense.
Should we really ponder if there's any sort of grand masterplan for Trump's actions when his history in office has always been about stupid decisions with no greater meaning to them once all had been said and done?
