This is what I keep trying to tell people. Trump is a symptom, not a disease.
MAGA is the result of 200 years of white conservative grievance because the world isn't the way they want it to be. That's not going to go away when Trump does. Before Trump, it was Reagan. Before Reagan, it was George Wallace. In Wallace's case, they settled for Nixon as a more nationally acceptable alternative for moderates. Trump is the Wallace presidency they wanted back in 1968. It's not about eggs, or "kitchen table issues." It's about punishing the heathens. "Heathen" is the Christian version of "infidel." They'll gladly go into an economic depression if it means they take their enemies down with them.

You're talking only about politicians, right? I'm asking because my impression is that among the people, he has support from more groups than that, and he's a symptom of not just one but several diseases.

Nope. I am talking about the people and why MAGA simply will not go away. They’ll still have the same grievances when he’s gone. They’ll just shop around for another politician who will indulge their 200 year old grievances. What they want is a white evangelical ethnostate. The politicians are just the enablers.
