Also important to remind that a lot of Hitler's worst ideas were based on the "free and democratic" US's official policies of segregation and manifest destiny.

To me, Trump reminds me of Ferdinand Marcos’s regime. His power solidified when Beningo Aquino Jr was arrested. The Marcoses plundered the country for years (remember Imelda Marcos’s shoe collection?) When the Marcos family went into exile, the U.S. harbored them. When they went back to the Philippines, they started whitewashing his regime and seeking local and national positions in the government. Now Ferdinand Marcos Jr (Bongbong) is president. He’s currently locked in a power struggle with Rodrigo and Sara Duterte. The Philippines probably have the closest political and cultural ties to the U.S. of any Asian nation.
