The USA used to have checks and balances in place to prevent/punish an abuse of power, but those days are over. The supreme court has granted Trump immunity while congress is happily lining up to fall in line with whatever insanity is being tossed their way. In theory it would only take a handful of Republicans in both the house and senate to put an end to all this, but if Republicans had a sense for empathy, they wouldn't be Republicans in the first place.
Worth reiterating here is that everyone who voted for Trump is either evil or an idiot.
Most of the tariff threats were for show and amounted to nothing, but all the efforts to replace the workforce in federal agencies are very serious. Then there's Musk getting access to a tremendous amount of data of American citizens, and other things to follow.
