I think this was just a tease.  A little something to wet the whistle.  I like that they seemed to be a little cheeky about Joy-Con drift.

But its close, the reveal would be after Xenoblade release then a couple of weeks we would have the direct. I am not complaining, it is a good tatic to shut up the leakers and beggars to then continue with their schedule promoting the remaining games for Switch: DK January; Pokemon Legends February; Xenoblade March

lol, people are going to talk more about Switch 2 now, not less. I don't think Pokemon Legends is even making February. DK Returns and Xenoblade X ... no offense to people who are fans of those games, but that's like nothing housekeeping for Nintendo. A port of low selling Wii U game and a DK game they needed to throw out there because of the theme parking opening of the DK area. 

I would not be surprised if there is something else for the Switch 2 between now and April 2nd. For the Switch they had a big appearance of the system on Jimmy Fallon in December 2016 before the big January Switch 1 Nintendo Direct.
