Schrieier is arguably the most reputable source in the industry, so I'm inclined to believe him. I do wonder whether Nintendo is a bit behind with their own games/trailers and thus didn't want hold third parties hostage...

But also if most Switch 2 support initially is late ports, thats not really showcase worthy so also a reason why they would want to give them room to just drop announcements gradually over the weeks versus having 30 late ports all competing for headlines at the same time.

Third parties late ports are 100% showcase worth because a) those games were not on any Nintendo system yet, so for Nintendo userbase they are new games, and b) they are good to show how well Switch 2 can run games, in a technical level

Initial support from third parties being late ports is nothing new. PS5 third party launch games we all ports too, that Sony did was to prepare a great showcase with upcoming games. A showcase showing Monster Hunter Wilds port to Switch 2 as a launch title, or even announcing the new Dragon Quest mainline for the next 2 years, this would be much better than very low-key scattered reveals from third parties

Sony did not give spotlight to late ports besides GTAV when they revealed PS5. That is not how you showcase a new system. Yet to be released games like Monster Hunter Wild would of course make great showcases but according to reports we're looking at a "lot" of games from 2023 and earlier... And they are the kind that simply do not need to a dedicated showcase ahead of/or next to Nintendo's actual big next gen reveal.
