My hypothesis about Sony is THEY WANT TO LEAVE the console market. The hardware is not making all that money, and they now are very focused in games production to sell you a colorful range of different and demanded WOKE game experiences, lol (man, they have dozens of studios and every year they buy or create some new one). They are balls deep into gaming production, so, they want to sell games, everywhere, including the PC. And having a console is now more a problem than an advantatge, cause first, they have to sell the console, and after that, they need to sell the games. No need to sell any hardware if they become full PC developers. But, it seems they have fear to lose its fanbase in a severe whiplash effect, as Sega suffered after its way out of the console production...

... so they are probably trying to refocus its game subsidiary from console maker... to a "game-streaming based hardware" maker. More easy to manufacture. And MORE CHEAP. That would explain why Sony is bragging all the time in the media about the huge success of PS Portal sells (a "success" hilariously false),...

... and would also explain all that "AI against the input button lag" crap they are patenting now: That seems a technology TO HELP some Sony "STADIA-like" service to not sucking hard in its gameplay experience.
Otherwise... an input lag in local console gaming is... extremely low (i mean... we are not playing 3D PC games in that INSANE second half of the 90s, were everything lagged hard because every 3D game needed "the last minute CPU and graphics card in the market" to have a decent gameplay experience... or the frames per second could be ridiculously low (I remember a demo of the game "Pod" in a decent Pentium without MMX and no 3D card... "beautiful" experience. You could count the polygons one by one during "a race" XD).
