The reason why Nintendo may benefit from that is that even though digital is already dominating, we still have holdouts the coming 10 years or so when it comes to people that enjoy physical media, and Switch 2 will benefit from those holdouts. In Japan for example there seems to be many old school gamers left that want to buy physical games and then sell the games when they've played them on the used game market to recoup cash. |
I'd say it's pretty up in the air with the PS6 for it being fully digital or not but even if it isn't physical will have a much lower presence for it compared to the PS5 so this is a good point. I think a Switch 2 digital only model is possible but either way it should have a physical presence similar to the PS5 since Nintendo is basically 5-10 years behind Playstation in regards to this sort of thing.
