Famiboards believes the leaked Switch 2 motherboard pics are real, which seem to indicate an 8 nm SoC or something close to it.

Makes me wonder what Samsung promised Nintendo (probably the same sweet talk that swayed Nvidia, Apple, etc. in the past, much to their detriment) which might explain the very unusual dock fan and higher PSU.

If I were to take a wild, wild guess, some internal target that Samsung promised wasn't being reached when all was said and done, so Nintendo delayed the console and did what they could to at least salvage the docked mode's performance.

Its probably just because Nvidia did that design on 8nm with samsung.
Nintendo wont spend money to shrink it down.... and pay more for a newer node, even if it could mean a stronger Switch 2 or better battery life.

There are also rumors of a 25 watt-hour battery.
So it looks like they are sticking to the same power consumption that original Switch has.

People are saying this will be more powerfull than a Steam Deck  and maybe roughly where a PS4 base model is in terms of performance.
So its up to DLSS to carry the load.  Granted this is still a big upgrade from the original Switch, so fans should be really happy about that.

However in terms of performance, your still looking at a generation of Nintendo console, that's basically in terms of capability, a gen behind the others.
(PS5/XSX)

I enjoy my Switch so.... honestly it doesn't matter (hardware power).
It is and always will be, the games and exclusives the system has (and the people making the games that fit that system).
