Said character is probably 'modeled' by a model too. Same people who decided Aloy wasn't attractive, meanwhile the model she is based on is well out of their league.

I believe that 100%, but why oh why do the developers do this? lol

What exactly are you asking?

If its why developers don't make the characters to look like fashion models its because that is not authentic to the stories they are trying to tell. Aloy is the equivalent to a nordic nomad. She isn't supposed to look like a 2024 millennial in NewYork who works in digital marketing for a living.

Similarly something I've noticed with Intergalactic is that some portion of people don't grasp that women look different with and without make-up and that its a complete fair creative decision to not have your lead wearing make-up if it doesn't make sense for their personality or that moment in the narrative.

All of this just reflects a bit of immaturity about a segment of the gaming audience. When A24 announces their next big film, people don't stress over whether the characters are meeting their personal beauty standards. People don't watch shows like Breaking Bad and flip out because the female representation isn't feminine enough. It's a complete infantile portion of the gaming market who hasn't yet grasped that the medium is evolved and variety + authenticity is king. Emphasis on variety because there are still plenty of feminine female characters.
