I'm considering buying GT7 after putting a few hours into the demo lol. I haven't played one since GT2, and I'm not a huge racing fan, but the soundtrack and controls are so good. I love how its packaged as a "car historian," but still remains very friendly to casual players. |
My First Gran Turismo is severely lacking in functions and features so it can be easier to appeal to anyone.
You can always play with all kinds of assists but GT7 is A LOT more than that. The only thing you can do there on MFGT is choose some assists and how heavily/softly the steering assist is.
Things GT7 has that are not in MFGT:
Tracks with dynamic weather, where you can see the rain (and how intense it will be) in a color maps in real time during the race, with puddles actually forming where cars aren't driving and there is some level depression for it to form, the more water there is on the track the less control you have (there is a wet/dry meter for the tyres so you can keep it in check).
There are a few tracks with an experimental adaptive AI that can beat the very best players in the world, it learns from your driving style, minds you in the track, gets angry (displaying emojis lol) if you overtake it.
There is car damage to specific parts that affect the performance, but only in certain races but it can instantly ruin a race for you.
The tyres can/will get dirt, hot/cold and worn out during the races which majorly impact handling and performance, and the worn out rubber will start to collect in the sides of the turns where they wore out which affect your car.
There is fuel consumption and fuel mix maps to manage it in real time during the races. Cars have varied levels of fuel efficiency which can really add strategy to some races. You can also change the front or rear balance of the cars during the race.
There is a lot of costumization to be done to cars, lets you do quite a bunch of fine tuning if you actually know how to do it (I don't, just copy from people that do, lol) and not to mess up the cars lol (but you can always take the cars back to the default state, as you can save your fine tuning changes to separated stat sheets, for each car).
There are engine swaps, you can literally fit some cars engines on some other car bodies (pretty limited on how many choices you have, and you can't buy engines, just win them rarely on tickets, also you have to have max collector level for this option to become available, if I'm not mistaken), and the engine and oil get worn out after some time using the same car.
Well, obviously there are online races, with 3 weekly races going on at all times, plus custom lobbies, and 1 or more time challenges for people to compete worldwide, giving rewards based on your global ranking.
You can buy cars on their brand store, the used car dealership or the legendary cars shop.
And there is a lot of content, cars, tracks, races and challenges.
That game is so damn good.
